Today Apple launched its new design language "Liquid Glass" and it's sick, I've been daily driving it for the past 3 months on my iPhone 14 and now that it's officially public some app developers are "updating" their apps to use the company's new design language and that includes the app I use the most (besides Bluesky) Buffer.

Thrilled to share the most significant update to Buffer for iOS since I started building it in 2011. v15.0 brings a full Liquid Glass refresh, a brand new look, and under the hood, I've transitioned the app from mostly Objective-C to Swift. The best version of Buffer for iOS I've ever shipped. 🎉

Buffer for iOS 26 is live; our biggest update yet! 🎉

Fresh design, new Ideas Shortcut, a full Apple Watch app, calendar day view, posting goals, & so much more.

12 yrs after our first iPhone app, we’re still building with the same teammates. 💙

"This update also feels like a full-circle moment. Back in 2012, we launched our very first iPhone app, built by Andy, who's still at Buffer today leading the engineering work on iOS. That first app introduced a Safari bookmarklet so you could "Add to Buffer" while reading an article. Twelve years later, Andy is still building the same app with additional support from Daniel, our designer based in Malta, who has been leading the design vision for iOS 26." - Mike Eckstein @ Buffer

Fresh design and a new feel

The Buffer app now uses Apple's new glassy design language, Liquid Glass.

Here's how I would describe it:

The app feels more responsive and "modern" it takes a step out of an era filled with Flat Design into something new, we've never experienced.

The App now remembers where you left off, easier channel switching and a better onboarding experience.

Save Ideas on the go

As a Person who posts up to 20 times a day on Bluesky, i'm always thinking of ideas.

Whether that be when i'm outside (yes i do touch grass), in the car or at my desk you can now save new ideas via the control center, on your Apple Watch or even get fancy and make your own custom shortcuts using the shortcuts app (like me).

The new update brings a your Streak and Posting goal to your wrist (if you have an apple watch) and a new day view in the monthly calendar.

This update was huge and I can't wait to see what the Buffer team has planed for use in the feature.

Before you leave I just want to give a huge shout out to Sabreen who always seems to be online, always helpful, kind and keeping the Discord Sever active and to Andy working his hardest on the tinniest of bugs and details.
